A big thank you and welcome back to John Cook Hand Engraver for another excellent two day 'Introduction to hand push engraving' workshop.

Intensive? Yes!
What did students learn? So, so much including how to make your own graver (that fits your hand), setting and sharpening it; bright cutting; transferring designs; how to wiggle (everyone loved that!); and patience! - it takes lots of that and practice.

John will be back with us next year for Level 2. Plenty of time for everyone to practice before then! Dates to follow. Keep an eye on the School website and John's website for future course dates

A few photos from yesterdays' fully booked 'Introduction to 3D enamelling (vessels)'.
Students worked with leaded or unleaded/transparent or opaque vitreous enamels depending on their individual preferences.
Copper vessels spun by [email protected].
Enamels used - Milton Bridge & WG Ball.
Fabulous work and all were first attempts at working on a 3D form with vitreous enamels.

More enamelling workshops to follow later in the year (cooler months).

Two day introduction to engraving (hand pushed) with John Cook this weekend just gone. It was a real insight to both the trade and process of hand engraving. Everyone on the course thoroughly enjoyed themselves and most importantly succeeded (see the finished plate by one of the students).
The next introductory course with John at York School of Jewellery is in October 2026. All places now filled.
