The updated Essence 39 is powered by the COSC-certified Sellita SW200-2 Power+.

The movement extends the power reserve to 65 hours while improving winding efficiency and shock resistance. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and features 26 jewels, a Glucydur balance and our custom skeletonized rotor with blued screws, visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

Each movement is individually tested by the independent Swiss institute over 15 days, in five positions and at three different temperatures. To earn the official chronometer certification, it must meet seven strict criteria, including an average daily rate between -4 and +6 seconds per day.

More power and greater everyday practicality, without changing the dimensions of the watch.

Among the signature dials, Blue remains our most popular color, so keeping it in the updated 39 mm lineup was an easy decision.

Vertical brushing gives the dial its depth, while individually CNC-milled horizontal grooves define its structure and shift the reflections as the watch moves. The beveled date window at 6 o’clock and color-matched date wheel are integrated directly into the composition.

The details of the Essence 39 reveal themselves layer by layer.

Every horizontal groove across the dial is individually CNC-milled, creating precisely defined lines that change in appearance as the light moves across the surface.

The beveled date window at 6 o’clock has become a signature finishing detail across the Formex collections. Rather than leaving the aperture as a simple cutout, its edge is machined into a crisp, consistent bevel. This catches the light, gives the opening greater depth and frames the color-matched date wheel without interrupting the dial design.

The faceted hands, hand-applied indices and applied Formex logo continue the same attention to detail, combining vertically brushed surfaces with mirror-polished bevels. Each finish reflects light differently as the wrist moves, improving both the visual depth and legibility of the dial.

Small details, but central to how the Essence is designed and manufactured.

Adding a screw-down crown to the Essence involved more than replacing one component.

The mechanism had to work with our patented Case Suspension System while preserving the clean silhouette and familiar proportions of the 39 mm case. The result adds another layer of security at the crown while maintaining the Essence’s 100 m water resistance.

Wrist size changes throughout the day, and so can your preference for a tighter or looser fit depending on what you are doing. The bracelet should be able to adapt with you.

Developed in collaboration with our family company Dexel, the new patented butterfly clasp allows the bracelet to extend or retract in 3 mm increments, offering up to 6 mm of tool-free adjustment.

The fit can be adjusted directly on the wrist without opening the clasp or taking off the watch.

The Essence 39 in Alpine White.

The white dial itself remains unchanged. Its sprayed finish gives the surface a matte, slightly grainy texture, with the signature CNC-milled horizontal grooves running across it.

For this version, we added the blued hands and applied indices first used on the Essence Space Ghost because we loved the contrast they created against the white dial. Even the date numerals are matched to the same blue, a small detail that ties the entire display together.
