A STROM Watch Finds Its Way Back to Johnny Depp — A Story of Craftsmanship, Friendship and Time.
Milan, Italy — September 1, 2026
What began with the unfortunate theft of a STROM timepiece ended with an unexpected meeting in Milan and a new chapter in the story of a very personal watch.
Following the theft of his original STROM watch, the actor and musician's camp reached out to STROM Prestige Swiss Timepieces to ask whether CEO Daniel Strom would be interested in personally replacing the timepiece. The answer was an immediate yes.
Daniel Strom at HQ in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, personally rushed the creation of a new STROM Carpe Noctem Urushi timepiece, before bringing it with him to Milan for a meeting during the Hollywood Vampires' Italian tour.
The meeting became much more than simply handing over a replacement watch.
The two spent time together discussing the timepiece, its construction and the extraordinary craftsmanship behind the dial. The Carpe Noctem Urushi is part of STROM's AGONIUM collection.
One of the details that particularly illustrates the level of craftsmanship involved is the dial itself. According to Daniel Strom, it takes approximately four weeks simply to manufacture the dial—a process that reflects STROM's philosophy of treating each timepiece as a work of art rather than simply an instrument for telling time.
For Daniel, however, the most memorable part of the experience wasn't just the watch.
"Johnny has an angelic and kind heart. He's one of the nicest individuals that I've met."
The appreciation was mutual. Daniel recalls being particularly touched by how kind and grateful the actor was when receiving the new timepiece.
"I'm so grateful that Johnny loves his new watch."
For STROM, the moment represents something much deeper than a celebrity wearing one of its watches. It is a story about craftsmanship, personal commitment and the human connection behind an exceptional Swiss timepiece.
A watch may measure time—but sometimes, the story behind the watch is what makes it timeless. Thanx JD.
