Twenty years ago, I stood beside my best friend as her maid of honor. Two decades later, I had the honor of designing new rings to celebrate the beautiful life they’ve built together.

Her original engagement ring featured sapphires and diamonds, a beautiful symbol of where their love story began twenty years ago.

But as life evolved, it was time for a ring that reflected the woman she is today. And the best part? The entire redesign was kept a secret!

I knew she had loved a classic round brilliant diamond in a bezel setting, so when we found this stunning 2.5-carat lab-grown diamond, I knew it was the one.

Set in warm yellow gold, the result is timeless, modern, and so perfectly her.

Same love. New era. A very special surprise.

For years, he had been wearing a temporary wedding band. It was time for something that reflected not only their twenty years of marriage, but the beautiful family they’d built together.

And she wanted it to be a complete surprise.

We designed a custom yellow gold wedding band with the most meaningful details hidden inside: her own handwriting engraved with the words “my lobster,” and a tiny peridot representing their daughter.

But here’s my favorite part of this entire story…

Neither of them knew the other was secretly working with me to create a new ring for their anniversary!

Twenty years later, they surprised each other with rings that celebrated the same love story, each in their own deeply personal way.

And I got to be part of both surprises.

New Hampshire is where I designed our America250™ Heritage Ring, so it felt only right to photograph it against the granite that has long defined the Granite State.
Set with ruby, diamond and sapphire, the ring is engraved inside with the words “Live Free or Die”—a small detail that makes this piece especially personal to where Cove calls home.
This Labor Day weekend, I’m celebrating American craftsmanship, the places that shape us, and the people whose work brings every Cove piece to life.
