Stelzer Metalworks

Stelzer Metalworks I love making things. On this page, I will be sharing all of my work, not just the pieces that are for sale.

These will include the crappy photos, the finished photos, the newest pieces, the custom pieces, the one-of-a-kind pieces, and the production line that's available on my etsy page.

It’s time! The Button Factory Open Studios starts tonight, 5-8, and continues Saturday and Sunday days 11-5. Tonight, I’ll have snacks for you on the first floor in Jon Lummus’s shop (where I’ve been the last several years). This year, I also have my friend Eli healing with said snack table and helping with customers. See you this weekend!

Open Studios is less than a week away! This year, Saturday and Sunday only, there will be a whole scene in the alley in back. And on Friday night opening, the Studios will have you covered for snacks. Today I made a couple batches of earrings and textured this sheet of brass (video in comments) to be made into the flicker earrings. But I think it’s so pretty just like this. I love metal.

Is there some kind of holiday coming up or something?😉 I have 12 of these sweeties on Etsy right now. it’s been so long since I’ve posted that it was becoming almost an aversion. I really meant to make a post about how significant of an experience Sunapee was and how grateful I am to for accepting and hosting me and how awesome my neighbors were and how sorry I was to anyone who came by on that last Sunday because I was so exhausted and kind of checked out. Next year, I will be more mentally prepared! Since, I’ve been back, I’ve been working extra at Trader Joe’s to make up for the days I missed and enjoying a lot of cuddles with Max. If we had our druthers, we would remain in this state the entire day. Close second for him is baking in front of the heater(last pic). It feels so nice with the coolness of Fall happening. As far as work goes, it’s full steam ahead for Craft Fix on November 2. 7 1/2 weeks away!! 😅

Today, I made a bunch of the textured, Bark Rings for Sunapee next week. That, and spent more time (that I don’t have!) trying to solve the issue of my tumbler breaking. One part was so corroded that it failed, unleashing tumbling solution and steel media onto my floor. Side note, can’t companies use bronze parts for things that will be submerged in liquid? 🥴I wrote the manufacturer, but they have subpar customer service so today I placed an order for a new tumbler bowl with a different company, paid them to overnight it. They texted me that they actually didn’t have it in stock and that the manufacturer would send it but that they only work till 4 and not at all on Fridays so the soonest it would be sent is MONDAY OMFG. This machine is how I finish almost everything and it has to be run for a couple days. So I don’t even know if there will be time. 😩😩😩if anyone local has a Raytech Adjusta Vibe 25 kicking around hit me up.

Getting ready for Art Beat in Somerville, MA, tomorrow, I had to take a detour to make these new earrings. 3 1/4” long. Come experience my favorite street fair 12-7. And if you have the option, stay to see the sweet little parade to close the fair out. That happens around 6:45?

I’m working on such a large batch of Belloc earrings that I had to find a new, bigger container to wrangle them. This little cup by fit the bill nicely. 2nd pic includes a smaller dish I normally use. I love using gorgeous vessels while working. Sunapee fair is a little over a month away. And Art Beat on July 19 in Somerville, MA, Davis Square is my only other summer fair.

Soldering shut the loop on all these drops took an entire day. This detail is important to me. Even though it’s on the back, when you’re handling your earrings , I don’t want a sharp intersection to catch your eye. I also worry that hair can/would get caught in unsoldered joints. Now comes the hammering! All these pieces are going to make 16 pairs of Drape Drops (8 sterling silver, 8 brass), 20 prs of the Long Drops (14 ss, 6 br), 10 Tribal Hoops (6 ss, 4br), and 5 Teardrops (all ss, as I ran out of brass🫤). I’ve been plugging along, trying to get ready for the League fair at Sunapee at the beginning of August. It feels like it’s impossible to have enough work for a 9-day fair. And I haven’t even figured out what my booth is going to be. I was thinking pipe/drape, but it doesn’t seem like that would work well in the event of wind. Have you seen any good solutions that don’t involve building actual walls?

Around the time I designed these earrings, I was obsessed with an architecture book of post-Revolution Russian buildings. And it shows. 🤷🏻‍♀️ still love those buildings, still love these earrings. Thanks, Portsmouth lass, for ordering them. I made an extra pair for this weekend. Come see three floors of artists and craftspeople. There are a ton of visiting artists tucked away in all the studios, and they will be present Saturday and Sunday.
