I made a new earring! League of NH Craftsmen Craft fair at Sunapee is fast approaching (Aug 1-9). I’ve been makingmakingmaking the classics, but I also feel like I needed to take a little detour to indulge the new design. I’m happy with them and they’re different than anything else I make. Facebook wouldn’t allow me to post videos with images, so I put a couple in comments.

I just got done pricing what I would need to get to sell these 10 gauge, sterling bangles that I used to price at 50 retail. The silver market is so volatile now that I will need to retail these at around 140. Each! 😳😨For context, for the last like 20 years that I’ve been doing this, the price has been so steady ($20-30ish) that I never needed to change my prices according to the market, so what customers experienced was just small gradual increases every couple years. Last November, I did notice that materials were suddenly higher, but I didn’t have time to reconfigure all my pricing. I barely have time now and it fills me with anxiety, (hence this great track from Midsommar)So for everyone who bought something sterling before now, feel lucky you did. I will make sure to have plenty of brass and copper at future fairs so that everyone can still wear cool jewelry. Button Factory

I finished up the batch of spinner rings! Funny because I was really intending to include some larger sizes, but I wasn’t very systematic about making specific sizes. So, yes, there are many large sizes, even including a 15! But the batch is sorely lacking in the most common medium sizes, seven, eight, nine. So I’m going to do a batch of just those next.

I made my first spinner rings! These were so fun to make, once I got over the paralysis that grips me before doing a new thing, and they won’t be my last. Thanks to the patient customer and for being the best cheerleader. Also included is what they looked like before tumbling a video below of why they’re called spinner rings.

It’s time! The Button Factory Open Studios starts tonight, 5-8, and continues Saturday and Sunday days 11-5. Tonight, I’ll have snacks for you on the first floor in Jon Lummus’s shop (where I’ve been the last several years). This year, I also have my friend Eli healing with said snack table and helping with customers. See you this weekend!

Open Studios is less than a week away! This year, Saturday and Sunday only, there will be a whole scene in the alley in back. And on Friday night opening, the Studios will have you covered for snacks. Today I made a couple batches of earrings and textured this sheet of brass (video in comments) to be made into the flicker earrings. But I think it’s so pretty just like this. I love metal.

Some more earrings for tomorrow. Second slide is before and after hammering. tomorrow 10-3 in the .gallery parking lot. Parking around there is tight. Walk/ride/car pool.
