MANUAL WATCH MOVEMENTS
The earliest watches date back to 16th century Italy and were powered by a mechanical movement. The pioneers of watchmaking crafted intricate, accurate pocket clocks using a combination of gears that turned at precise rates to keep time accurately and efficiently. The first instance in history where we had such capabilities!
This type of watch mechanism is a traditional hand-wound movement that, in most cases, needs to be wound daily.
When wound the mainspring within the timepiece gradually unwinds to provide the energy needed for powering the rest of the watch's movement.
Manual watch movements are more intricate and require skill to produce and are therefore often found in luxury watch brands like RL, PL, ...
You can't go wrong with a manual watch! Many people see luxury watches as collectable items, but some may be discouraged by the daily winding they require. However, many owners enjoy the interaction they have with their watches.
