Today there were 5 excellent people in the studio learning "Sewn Books". We learned a simple tape binding and a more complex coptic stitch, with lots of quality paper, colours and patterns.

There are very limited spaces left to join a bookbinding workshop this year. Link below to secure one of the last spots for 2026!

Photos from Sunday's Sewn Book workshop at Te Uru. A lovely group of 10 people learning how to create these handmade notebooks. Thanks so much for coming- and to Te Uru for having me!

1) Books for inspiring interest in the craft

2) Prepping signatures

3) Nipping Press and cradles (and guillotine not pictured) that came with me from The Binding Studio

4) All the colours of linen thread people choose

The wee table top guillotine has been in my possession a few years. I never tried him....

Nothing like a workshop to make stuff happen!

Been resurrecting him for the last couple of days so he can come to Te Uru on Sunday to teach with me 😊

There are still spaces available- you could come see him in action while you learn how to make a sewn book!

A few pics from yesterday's pamphlet stitching workshop. Four lovely attendees made 2 notebooks each (one with a soft cover, one with a hard cover.) They did so well!

I actually didnt take any other photos 🤣 I often dont! Its so nice to be present and enjoy the people and the craft.

Next up in the workshop line up is a sewn book workshop at Te Uru in Titirangi. Link in bio.

Next up in the 2026 Workshop Line Up:

PAMPHLET STITCHING

FRIDAY 21ST AUGUST / 11AM TO 3PM

This workshop is great for beginners upward.

Make 2 notebooks- a soft cover and a hard cover using a simple sewing technique.

The main focus is using adhesive to make a hard cover.

It follows the "Sewn Books" workshop really nicely, or as a stand alone. It's also a good one to do before the "Making Cloth" workshop and really rounding off a great set of binding skills!
