Do any of my jeweller friends make templates of shapes they use a lot?

I am not great at sketching or even drawing shapes. I will often print off shapes etc from my computer then make myself a template that I can reuse again and again. Does anyone else do that?

It seems I am piling on the weight thanks to a couple of chronic illnesses and age. Most of my rings no longer fit including my wedding/engagement ring. So I thought I'd make a new one with blue sapphires. This is my first attempt at bead setting and engraving. She is far from pretty but she taught me loads and is passable for my finger.

I have a new appreciation for sapphires especially in natural light - delicious 😋

It's been a while since I've made one of these hammered bands. I love making these, it's all about the basics and the little details. Details such as lots of filing and sanding to make sure these are a lovely and comfortable band to wear. This ring has a patina and has been sealed with some museum grade wax to slow down the aging process. Thanks LH, your ring will be on it's way tomorrow.

The lovely Steph and Brian are getting married today. Steph will be wearing this bracelet on her big day. The happy couple often go camping in the Cairngorms in Scotland. This bracelet features my interpretation of the Cairgorms with a halo moon, the moon being a wee cz. In some cultures a halo moon is associated with good fortune and harmony. Perfect for a wedding! There is also a little tent charm and the wedding date is on the back.

I made this a year or so ago but forgot to share it on here. It's a sterling silver turntable (or record player as it was called in my day). Being an old school raver, I love this piece. It makes me think of crates of vinyl being carted around fields in the middle of who knows where. It reminds me of glow sticks, white gloves, lasers and fog machines. It takes me back to crowded dance floors with sweat dripping from the ceiling. Who needed the gym then! 🕺
