Using symbols and icons to create contemporary jewellery. Usually in sterling silver with gem stones and bead. I also make commissions to clients designs and budgets often using customers own gold to melt down and create new family heirlooms.

I am sure everyone has heard of a black pearl but, I for one, had never come across a grey pearl before. Who knew they were a thing?

Well just to prove they do exist here is a baroque grey pearl set by Sally onto a 18ct gold d-shaped band.

The other thing I didn't know is that if a pearl is referred to as 'baroque' it doesn't mean it will play a ditty on a harpsichord, but rather that it is an irregular shape. So, any pearl not exactly spherical is baroque.

Either way the ring is lovely and unusual too.

Half-way through October already, so it must be time for this month's handsome bunny.

So here is Arthur from Essex. You may remember a little while ago Sally adopted Arthur from a lovely animal rescue, in Essex. There are so many animals out there needing adopting, it's hard not to end up with a houseful!

Arthur is a very friendly young bunny with fabulous lop ears.

Also, some of you maybe wondering why there is a "bunny of the month". Well, Sally has long had a love for rabbits and usually has quite an indoor warren of them. It's also a cheery way to show you all something other than Sally's wonderful jewellery, and to give a bit of variety.

Here's a cheer for this month's rescue rabbit. More of this next month, back to jewellery next week.

I don't know about you but it feels like autumn has really arrived over the past week. And, it's a bit nippy in the morning.

Anyway, putting aside the icy air, here's another lovely necklace from Sally this evening. Sally has crafted this necklace from sterling silver. The extra sparkle comes from the aquamarine, with it's silver rub-over setting.

It's October and one of the birthstones up for grabs is tourmaline.

I particularly like how tourmaline can be found in pretty much every colour of the rainbow. How amazing is that? Here's a selection of rings, all handcrafted by Sally, and all featuring various shades of tourmaline.

The past few weeks have been full of the Jewish high holy days, from Rosh Ha'shana through to Sukkot. So, it seems fitting to finish off the Hebrew month of Tishrei and the secular month of September with a special piece Sally made a while ago.

This silver letter opener was a gift for a new arrival. Sally set the letter opener with a diamond and then engraved the child's name in Hebrew.

As the days get shorter 😱, here's a throw back to Sally's busy summer. Filled with sparkles, top-notch craft events, and of course, bunnies!

Another pendant from Sally this evening. This flower pendant is a special ultimate-upcycle piece.

Sally's customer wanted their partner's signet ring made into something wearable and meaningful. As a result Sally worked with her customer to design this lovely 18ct gold pendant, set with a diamond. Sally hand pierced the gold to form flower design.

The pendant reminds me of a sunflower, and seems to be the perfect piece to remember someone with.

Don't forget, if you have inherited jewellery after the death of a loved one, Sally can work with you to design and make a wearable piece of jewellery.

A lovely pendant from Sally this evening. This 18ct gold pendant has been set with a brilliant cut diamond, but can you work out what the 3 ovals are?

If you look closely you can probably see that the 3 ovals are very small, children's finger-prints. Here Sally has used some wizardry and etched the finger-prints on to the gold.

I can't help but think what a special gift this would make. If you would like something similar, either for yourself, or another, do ping Sally a message.

Seeing as it's harvest time, here's a bunny enjoying her straw 🤣. Lovely Betsy has settled in well, and is apparently a clever one! (I have images of her opening doors and breaking into the bunny treats.)

You might also notice that her mane is also growing. I particularly like Betsy's tufty fringe. I can't help but think she is smiling in this pic, enjoying her new bunny filled home 🐰🥕🐇🥕.

Sapphire September! A re-view of behind the scenes when Sally forged this fabulous sapphire and diamond ring. With this one Sally used her customer's old jewellery, which as you can see were looking quite sad. These pics make the whole "take an old ring and make a new one" look so simple, but as we all know there is a huge amount of skill and years of experience going into this.
