BEST OF THE WEEK - my Mum turned 70 this week and we celebrated as a family with a Teppanyaki dinner.

My kids had never experienced Teppanyaki before but they all enjoyed the experience.

It was wonderful for us to all be together, sharing a fun and delicious meal.

MULTI TASKING - about once a month I make a big batch of earrings hooks. This week I turned 10mts of silver wire into earrings hooks whilst watching season 2 of The Four Seasons.

I enjoyed the 1st season and the 2nd season was equally enjoyable albeit frustrating. I like all the characters as neurotic as they are, but my fave is Danny (Colman Domingo)

I feel very lucky that I can enjoy quiet tv/movie days whilst being productive. Looking forward to the next earrings hook making day.

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT - my son had a student free day today, so I took the day off from studio work to make him spend the day with me!

We took a drive to Monbulk to buy flowers from for my Mum

Followed by a scenic route to sassafras (I may have got a bit lost) where we enjoyed morning tea at .in.sassafras Such a sweet cafe with a lovely owner and incredible scones.

Lastly we popped into in Olinda and purchased a heat pack in beautiful fabric. I had a wonderful chat with Kylie, one of the owners and was charmed by their colourful shop space.

It felt good to support these small businesses today. As a small business owner myself, I know how important it is to spend with them when you can.

My son wasn't off the hook when we got home either, as I made him watch Remember the Titans with me 😢

BEST OF THE WEEK - my daughter had her 1st ever birthday party today! She has been counting down the days for weeks.

Her cake request was a Budgie cake! I think I nailed it (thanks to Pinterest inspo)

Airlie had the best time running around the play centre with her friends.

Plus she got to experience the joy and excitement of taking presents home with her and madly ripping into them with abandon.

The generous gifts were reflective of how well her friends know her - there were cat gifts, animal books and craft activities and beautiful handmade cards.

Kids drawings are my favourite! The hybrid chicken fox is the best. (Image 6)

I bet she won't let me have another 7 years between parties, especially when she said it was better than Christmas.
