Bezonder

Bezonder Bezonder Jewellery for unique people. Passionate about design and sustainability. But this was not for an extended vacation, no!

Bezonder is the realisation of a dream; A dream that started with its founder, Johandi Ebersohn's first arrival in the beautifully set town of Stellenbosch. She arrived to study Jewellery Design and Manufacture at the University of Stellenbosch. Within her first week, she made up her mind: This was where she was going to stay and spread her creativity by making jewellery. Her instant infatuation w

ith the breathtaking scenery, grew into a deeper love for this melting pot of people and history, shaping South African culture. The word bezonder is a German/Dutch word that usually describes an item or event. It means: Peculiar, special, extraordinary, exceptional, outstanding, remarkable, even unexpected. Bezonder is what the designer strives for:
"I want people to look at my work and say this is bezonder". Bezonder Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Studio, is set in the heart of the wine lands in the town of Stellenbosch, South Africa. The owner is Johandi Ebersohn (Designer and manufacturer). Jewellery design is her "first love" and she focuses on silver jewellery exclusively. She is dedicated to creating pieces that are cutting edge, creative, contemporary and of the highest quality, yet very wearable and affordable. Her passion is to creative something different, artistic and special for every person and occasion. All pieces, both cast and hand wrought are made of sterling silver, precious and semi-precious gems, and more unusual materials such as LEGO blocks and Perspex. Bezonder specializes in handmade silver jewellery. The owner creates unique and creative jewellery, sometimes the pieces are made out of a special jewellery wax or clay first and then cast. She hopes to portray her passion and love for nature, art and all things special, precious and pretty, in her work and designs. The unique designs are mostly manufactured in sterling silver but can be done in any other metal on request.

Tomorrow’s plan: make a better plan.

Anyone else feel like September arrived really fast, but somehow it also slowed you down? Maybe it’s the strange weather. Maybe it’s just me.

Just popping in to say, if you’re feeling like me and September arrived but your creativity didn’t, it’ll sort itself out.

Got myself and a friend who rescued a bulldog a little gift, and it arrived yesterday!

It was actually nice to open a package for a change and not just send one out! 😂

I ordered a large and I absolutely love it!

Thank you petproject.co.za ❤️

As a fibre artist, you need these.

Handmade with love from upcycled antique silver-plated cutlery.

A darning needle for your next mending project.

A seam ripper for those “oops, that needs to come out” moments.

A darning needle ring, because your favourite tool can be worn too.

A petite darning needle on a chain, for a little piece of fibre art you can wear every day.

A fibula to keep your shawl ends together.

A measuring tape ring, because you’re always measuring something.

A little beaded sheep brooch, because every fibre artist needs a sheep.

And a paintbrush ring for the artists and makers who like to wear their tools.

Each one is handmade from antique cutlery, giving something old a new purpose.

Knitters, crocheters, embroiderers, quilters, weavers and all fibre artists, have a look at what I have on offer.

Bonus: Need to know your ring size?

Here’s a quick video showing you how to measure your finger using a measuring tape.

1. Wrap it nice and snug around your finger. Tight please.

2. Bring the end to the tape so I can clearly see the measurement. Take a photo and send it to me.

3. Start measuring from the 0 end of the measuring tape.

Get to know you Saturday.

A blank canvas. (Metal granules are mine.)

What is yours?
With all the new faces here, who I am eternally grateful for, I would love to learn a little more about your creative side.

Whether creating is your job or just a hobby, I’d love to know where you start when you begin a project.

For me, as a metalsmith, it all starts with granules. With precious metals, I start by melting the metal and making an ingot, which I can then turn into plate or wire.

And the cutlery I repurpose, although I didn’t make it myself, started off that way too. It was metal before it became a spoon, fork or knife.
So I’d love to know yours!

Maybe yours is a blank page, a skein of yarn, a piece of fabric, a face waiting for makeup, a canvas, a block of clay, a photograph, a screen, or a pile of fabric scraps.

Whether you create for a living or simply because you have to make things, what is your blank canvas?

Tell me in the comments. I’d love to know what all the creative people around here start with.
And if you’re new here, welcome. I thought this would be a nice way for us to get to know each other. 😊
