As the Site C Business Forum, we have always been clear in our networking and founding principles that we do not compete with like-minded people, organizations, or forums. Instead, we believe in complementing one another, collaborating, and building strong relationships for the benefit of our communities and businesses.

The Site C EXCO recently met with the Township Developers Forum, an organization that has played a significant role in building flats in various townships. During the engagement, we shared notes, exchanged ideas, and discussed ways to strengthen our respective organizations. The engagement was facilitated by DAG and reflects the kind of progressive relationships we continue to forge as the Site C Business Forum.

We are hopeful that this engagement will pave the way for a long-term working relationship that will bring mutual benefit to both organizations and, most importantly, contribute towards township development and economic empowerment.

Our approach remains rooted in unity, cooperation, and collective development rather than division and unnecessary competition.

Yesterday, Site C Business Forum hosted a delegation of US university students from various states as part of the Skills Exchange Programme with UCT International.

The focus was practical: students are conducting research on Social Infrastructure, Political Science, and Business Challenges, and Khayelitsha was selected as a key case study.

Our Site C business Forum Executive members and informal traders led the engagement, giving the students a direct look at how business operates on the ground in Khayelitsha. We discussed real challenges in local enterprise, trade, and infrastructure, and how Khayelitsha is organizing to drive economic activity despite structural constraints.

This was an opportunity to showcase that Khayelitsha is not just a township of challenges it is a hub of entrepreneurship, resilience, and organized business activity.

SITE C BUSINESS FORUM STATEMENT ON THE N2 WALL

The Site C Business Forum wants to state from the beginning that we welcome any intervention that seeks to curb crime and improve the safety of motorists, tourists, and all road users travelling on the N2. Safety is important for our communities and for businesses.

However, building a wall must not be used to hide the real problems facing poor black communities. Crime cannot be solved by walls alone. Walls may hide the problem, but they do not solve the problem.

We call on the City of Cape Town to implement the recommendations of the Pikoli Commission, including:
โ€ข Proper access roads for policing and emergency services
โ€ข High mast lights in our communities
โ€ข Working surveillance cameras in crime hotspots

The City must also urgently fix the bridge between Site C, Taiwan and Driftsand along the N2. The bridge is dilapidated, barriers are falling apart, and there are no functioning cameras. People from Driftsand, Covid informal settlement, Taiwan and Site C use this bridge every day and they are not safe.

It is unacceptable that important infrastructure is neglected while new projects are announced.

We also call on the City of Cape Town to consult the broader communities, including business forums, civic organisations and residents, before implementing major projects that affect our communities.

Our communities should not be hidden behind walls. We deserve safety, development, dignity and opportunity.

Site C Business Forum โ€“ Festive Season Message & 2026 Opening
Site C, Khayelitsha

The Site C Business Forum extends its warm wishes to all business owners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders for a peaceful festive season, a blessed Christmas, and a prosperous New Year.

As we reflect on the past year, we acknowledge the resilience, determination, and commitment demonstrated by businesses operating in Cape Town despite challenging economic conditions. Your continued efforts to sustain and grow local enterprises remain the foundation of our communityโ€™s economic development.

As we enter the new year, the Site C Business Forum wishes all businesses success in the opportunities that lie ahead. We encourage cooperation, unity, and a shared commitment to advancing local economic interests.
The Forum further calls upon all business owners to remain united and vigilant, and never allow political interests or affiliations to divide us. Our strength as business people lies in unity, discipline, and a common economic vision. Political dynamics may change, but business interests are permanent and must always take priority. The Site C Business Forum exists to promote economic development, empowerment, and opportunity creation, free from political interference.

The Site C Business Forum is pleased to announce that its official activities for 2026 will commence on Monday, 12 January 2026 at 09:00 AM.
Our first task for 2026 will be the finalisation of the Forumโ€™s Strategic Planning, which will provide a clear direction for the year ahead. This will be followed by a General Meeting, after which the Forum will immediately begin identifying and engaging available business opportunities for its members.

The success of the Site C Business Forum depends on cooperation, commitment, and collective responsibility.
Together, we must defend our business interests, strengthen our unity, and position local enterprises for sustainable growth.

We look forward to a productive and successful 2026

*Site C Business Forum Update*

We successfully concluded our 3-day session, part of a four-day programme, aimed at empowering local businesses.

Here's a recap of what we achieved:

Day 1: SEDFA facilitated the handover of CIPC registration certificates to our members.
Day 2: Standard Bank assisted our businesses in opening business bank accounts.
Day 3: We obtained environmental health certificates, accessibility certificates, and business licenses.
We also had a productive Phase 2 exchange with US delegates, discussing business challenges, successes, experiences, and learning opportunities.

Thanks to all participants and partners for their support. We're committed to continuing this momentum and driving growth in our community.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Best regards,
