Bespoke : Birth-flower Signet Ring

Our lovely client Henry approached us recently, looking to create a bespoke signet ring for his love Ophelia. The intention was to create a piece to celebrate a very special birthday, and also the birth of their darling baby boy Arthur.

We began the project by hand carving the signet ring from jeweller’s wax, slowly forming the smooth lines into the perfect shape for a pinky ring. Using the ancient lost wax casting process, this was then transformed into a solid platinum ring, from here we got to work on the final design that would be etched by hand into the metal.

Their son’s initial was to be engraved in a traditional script font, with his birth flower (a poppy for August) surrounding the letter as if emerging from a wildflower meadow. We intentionally used three full poppy blooms to symbolise the three of them, with buds and foliage to represent new life and growth together as a family. I’m so thrilled with how this one turned out! As always, thank you so much for entrusting me with this project - and a very happy birthday to you, Ophelia! ❤️

Dear friends,

Over the past six months, the cost of gold has risen significantly. You may have read about this in the media, in the last 12 months alone it has risen by around 75%. I’ve held prices steady for as long as possible, absorbing these changes behind the scenes. With gold now at a historic high, a price adjustment has become necessary.

From February 1st, prices across the Ivy Nixon Jewellery collection will increase, beginning at 10% upwards, depending on the design and when the price was last updated.

This shift allows me to continue creating pieces with integrity — responsibly sourced gold, fair and considered craftsmanship, and care for every hand involved in the process.

If there’s a piece you’ve been holding close in your mind, now would be a great moment to collect it before prices update. It’s also a wonderful time to reimagine any old or unworn jewellery into something entirely new through our bespoke service — transforming what you already have into a piece made just for you, to be cherished and enjoyed.

A little update from me & bub…

9 whole weeks of life with the main man, Leo Valentine! We’re still on maternity leave for the time being, so please allow me some time to get back to your messages. That being said, I’m starting to look at opening the diary for remote bespoke projects in the near future (in-person appointments are on pause for now). If there’s something you’d like to chat about having made, or you’ve reached out recently and are awaiting a reply, do send us a message/email to bump your request up the list.
