Our Story

On a rainy gloomy afternoon, when we were brainstorming our new photography concept of an old abandoned shopping mall, we saw a little blue bird that laid dying on the cold grubby ground. Perhaps the bird once used to be very beautiful, at that moment staying dead under a mysterious cause. Nevertheless, we saw another different kind of beauty emitting from him that is strange, nostalgic, longing, and as splendid as, or even more than it used to be, when he was alive.

The beauty of the death has long haunted us. It exists in dried roses, in branches left with no leaves every winter, in the sunset when the day ends. Birds are deemed as the symbol of freedom, youth and innocence. Their deaths are reflections of an end, a terminate, or a negation of youthfulness and immenseness. This whole idea has aroused in us the urge to establish our ‘The Dead Bird’ brand.

The Dead Bird - the name reminisces the beautiful images of a youth that has now gone. In the death and the sadness, an underlying beauty is revealed, very much alike the beauty of loss, or loneliness. Once you can truly feel that beauty, you can see it is shining through its own darkness.
