Trollbeads began in Denmark in 1976 with a single silver bead featuring six tiny faces, designed by Søren Nielsen and sold in his father Svend’s Copenhagen shop. Instead of hanging from an eyelet, the bead was made for a leather cord to pass through—an idea that helped spark the Trollbeads style we know today. Soon after, Søren’s sister Lise began adding the beads to silver bracelets, one at a time, creating a whole new way to wear them.
