Meet Cassie McGhee, who serves on the Programming & Speakers Committee for VSSC 2026! 🎉

Outside of conference planning, Cassie serves as Coordinator for Student Engagement at Bon Secours Richmond Higher Education Institutions, supporting students and contributing to the field of higher education.

Cassie's Why: Last year was my first time at VSSC, and I had a blast as both an attendee and a presenter! What makes VSSC worth attending year after year?

Meet Ashley Horn, who currently serves as Vice President on the VSSC Leadership Team. In her professional role, she serves as the Director of Housing and Residence Life and Student Conduct at Averett University!

Ashley's Why: I love having the opportunity to connect with professionals in the state. It has been extremely rewarding to assist in planning the conference for the past 3 years and seeing all of our ideas come to life. Each year, we raise the bar even higher than the last and it’s exciting to see people leave with connection, community, and an awesome experience.

Up next is Joe Wilder! Joe currently serves on the Registration Committee on the VSSC Planning Committee! In his professional role, he serves as a Managing Director of Residential Wellbeing at Virginia Tech!

Joe's Why: VSSC was the first conference I had the opportunity to attend as a grad student, so it is always a special place to come back to with great memories.

This picture is special because it's a great memory of VSSC 2025 of Joe getting the opportunity to co-present “Leading with Care: Rethinking Student Staff Training” alongside one of his team members! ✨
