Schenkel Shultz is proud to lead the design of the new Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Athletic Center at Lake Highland, opening in 2027. Created to serve as more than an athletic complex, the space will be a dynamic hub for sports, wellness, community gatherings and school-wide events.

Designed with flexibility at its core, it will feature adaptable gymnasium spaces for basketball, volleyball and wrestling, retractable bleachers, movable curtain walls, integrated technology and light-filled interiors that can transform seamlessly for assemblies, presentations and special programs.

We are honored to play an integral role in shaping a space that champions community, connection and the future of student athletics.

Schenkel Shultz is honored to be recognized by the City of Winter Park for the adaptive reuse of our studio in the vibrant ‘Designer’s Row’ along Orange Avenue.

Aligned with Historic Preservation Month and celebrated at Casa Feliz, this moment underscores our commitment to collaboration, community fabric and environmental stewardship.

Originally constructed in the 1950s, we brought new life to the existing space, transforming it into a modern design hub. Expansive and light-filled, our sustainable strategies came together to support our team and inspire our work. A place rooted in history, reimagined for the future.✨

Fashion is Art. The 2026 Met Gala made it official, but Schenkel Shultz said it first. ✨

Our 2023 rebrand and 40-year celebration, A Night at Maison Edyth, was a Met Gala-inspired runway reveal where four decades of landmark projects were transformed into custom couture, blending architecture and artistry in motion.

Because great design, whether it’s worn or built, has always been art. A moment that honored our legacy while shaping what was to come.

The Schenkel Shultz team was honored to join the ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration of the Therapy Center & Academy.

Inspired by the vision to ‘reach for the stars’, the space features collaborative hubs, indoor-outdoor connections and both high- and low-stimulus environments to support every learner’s needs.

“Our design was driven by Quest’s empowering mission to assist individuals with disabilities to experience a full, meaningful life,” shared Ekta Desai, AIA.

We are proud to be a part of this project that creates a lasting impact in the community.

Celebrating a remarkable night for the Orlando arts community✨

Schenkel Shultz is proud to champion the arts and the vibrant cultural communities they help shape. Ekta Desai, AIA, Design Lead and Partner, served as Co-Chair of the 2026 Ball, reaching new heights, raising a record-breaking $1.14 million in support of its inspiring mission.

A passionate supporter of the arts, Ekta is the architect behind the headquarters of The Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation in the heart of Winter Park. The Edyth features a two-story lobby, contemplative garden, community innovation room, Foundation and tenant offices and gathering spaces to host meetings, performances, art exhibitions, fundraisers and meaningful community connections.

Here, architecture and the arts merge for a powerful representation of how thoughtfully designed spaces can inspire creativity, foster collaboration and strengthen the cultural fabric of our community.

Schenkel Shultz’s Desai wins UF alumni architecture award for firm’s office design

By Katie Sartoris Staff Writer. GrowthSpotter, December 22, 2025

Last fall, Schenkel Shultz moved into its new office in Winter Park. After 30 years in the Fifth Third Bank building in downtown Orlando, the design firm had grown out of its existing office.

The design and architecture firm’s new space — an open concept in a 22,000-square-foot historic midcentury building —  represented new beginnings. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Schenkel Shultz had done a brand refresh in 2023 and announced it was launching into new markets. They wanted a headquarters that increased their visibility in the community and inspired teamwork and design excellence.

The project won Ekta Desai, a firm partner and its design lead, an Alumni Design Award from the University of Florida School of Architecture.

We celebrate receiving the Honor Award in the New Work Restoration & Addition category at the AIA Florida Southwest Design Awards, a recognition that affirms our work as cultural stewardship—preserving history, elevating craft, and creating new stages for community life.

The 54,400 sq. ft. renovation of Booker High School’s Visual and Performing Arts Center honors Emma E. Booker, whose vision established Sarasota’s first Black school and set a legacy of resilience and opportunity. Inspired by the performative qualities of a gemstone, the reimagined design reveals the original auditorium through a two-story faceted curtainwall, honoring its history while opening views to its future.

The expansion introduces a studio theater, green room, costume shop, adaptable lobby spaces, and a black box theater equipped with color-changing LEDs, advanced acoustics, and precision projection to support evolving creativity. Purpose-built and adaptable, the renewed center now hosts more than 30 performances annually, strengthening Sarasota’s arts ecosystem and empowering students to carry forward Booker’s legacy with artistry, courage, and lasting impact.

This achievement reflects the extraordinary talent and dedication of our project partners. Our sincere thanks to:
