Meet Gertie, my newest thundergourd mostly made from a cross-pollinated penguin gourd grown in last summers crop. This piece is made from 4 different gourds, copper wire, kwikwood, thundergourd fixtures, hand painted silk and Beisanz stone. I adore her.

Alrighty I’ll be at WSHS this Saturday for their annual craft fair from 9-2. I’ll have all my usual jewelry inventory as well as plenty of musical instruments, hair pieces and gourd plants which are free for students while supplies last. Good to hook em when they’re young☺️🧡

Its my go to hair piece and is perfect for spring and summer as they are wonderfully waterproof and im known for jumping in a body of water without thinking or staying out fully clothed in the rain🧡

This piece is a reminder that spring offers a renewal of the soul. A chance to freshly live with intention, purpose and gratitude for the awakening beauty. This past week was the anniversary of my brother’s passing. Ian was always so connected with the natural world and I sometimes wonder if he had just seen the birth of spring if things would have been different.

This piece is called “spring cleanse” it is made from 6 different gourds, kwikwood, beisanz stone, oil paints, acrylics, watercolors and copper wire.

From labor, to women, to racial equality to gay rights the fight to exist in your own skin without fear of discrimination or persecution is inalienable to every human. Meet Camilla. She has taken about 3 years to make and started with a few bracelets i had tried to make that didn’t work out and all of a sudden became a skirt and all of a sudden became a person who all of a sudden became Camilla. The original Camilla (last photo) is a doll that was my grandma Barbara’s and this one was made in her honor. Everyone thought that doll as hideous, not grandma Barbara and not me, hideous doesn’t scare me, cruelty does. Grandma fought against cruelty and intolerance her whole life and that’s what I aim to do. Camilla’s body is a penguin gourd her original skirt is three rings of different snake gourds, her hat is made out of a bottle gourd her basket is a Tennessee spinner and her sign is the base of a large Martin gourd. In her basket the fish are made out of seeds and her turnip stems are gourd vines.
