Mark recently designed and handmade this beautiful Criss Cross Peridot Pendant in 14K yellow gold, featuring two very different looks from the same gemstone.

At the center is a beautiful cabochon Peridot with its smooth, luminous appearance, complemented by a smaller faceted Peridot above for that extra pop of sparkle. ✨

It’s a unique way to showcase August’s birthstone and Mark’s signature approach to creating one-of-a-kind jewelry.

💚 August calls for Peridot!

In celebration of August’s birthstone, we’re showcasing these beautiful 6mm Peridot earrings, designed and handmade by Mark in 14K white gold.

Rather than a traditional stud setting, Mark created his lotus design to surround each vibrant green Peridot with delicate, petal-like details. The combination of bright Peridot and white gold makes for a beautiful pair of earrings that can add a little color to just about any look. ✨

✨ Another one-of-a-kind piece has officially made its way from Mark’s bench to our showroom!

Mark just finished this beautiful pendant featuring a 1.01ct Australian Lightning Ridge Black Opal, accented by a .06ct diamond and handcrafted in 14K yellow gold.

One of the things we love about black opals is how much they can change depending on the light and angle. This particular stone comes alive with beautiful flashes of blue and green—and photos only capture part of what you see in person. 💙💚

Best of all, this wasn't a commissioned piece, which means it is currently available for purchase in our Windsor showroom!

✨ From concept to creation—another custom masterpiece is complete. ✨

Every custom piece tells a story, and this one was a privilege to create.

Using the customer's own gemstones, Mark collaborated with them to design a one-of-a-kind yellow gold ring. After finalizing the CAD design, every step—from casting and stone setting to polishing and finishing—was completed by hand right here in our Windsor, California studios.

There's nothing quite like wearing a piece of jewelry that was created just for you. Thank you for trusting us to bring your vision to life. 💛

✨ Another custom jewelry design brought to life at Mark Shimizu Design! ✨

One of the things we love most about custom jewelry is helping our customers transform their ideas into pieces that are uniquely their own. 💎

For this special project, Mark worked closely with this couple to create a ring inspired by one of his previous custom designs. By refining the details and tailoring the design to their preferences, he was able to create a piece that perfectly captured their vision.

The center diamond was carefully sourced by Ty and Laurie, while the customers provided the additional stones, making this ring even more personal and meaningful. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that tells their story and will be cherished for years to come.

With over 50 years of experience, Mark handles every stage of the process—from custom design and CAD work to casting, stone setting, and finishing—right here in our Windsor, CA jewelry studios.

If you've been in Sonoma County for a while, there's a good chance you remember Earthworks, one of Santa Rosa's most iconic jewelry stores. But did you know there's a special connection between Earthworks and Mark Shimizu Design?

In fact, almost everyone on our team worked there at one point! After taking over from our good friend Steven Stern, Mark Shimizu became the owner of Earthworks' custom design and jewelry repair shop, while Laurie was the office manager. It was at Earthworks where Mark and Laurie first met.

Fast forward nearly 33 years of marriage and over 50 years of Mark creating jewelry, they're now proud owners of Mark Shimizu Design on the Windsor Town Green, where they're continuing the same commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and personalized service that Sonoma County customers have trusted for decades.
