The deal would reduce an extraordinarily high tariff rate that had threatened to cripple Swiss exports.

PRICE CHANGE ALERT!!! On Monday, I’ll being changing the prices of Purple Cow watches. The good news is that the majority of changes will be DECREASES, some prices are going up. If you’re on the fence, now would be a good time to buy, and if you happen to buy a piece whose price goes down on Monday, you’ll get an immediate refund of the overage. Why are prices going up? The answer is the trade war and the uncertainty it has brought. The 2 largest producers of watch materials are Switzerland and China, and their tariffs are the highest. Also, American produced products have gone up because of tariffs on aluminum and steel. The next and less well-known pressure is that Seiko has stopped supplying its movements to the world market, and now all that is available is new old stock. Since August, my cost for these movements has doubled, and as supply wanes, that will increase. But, rest assured that Purple Cow will still give you the same quality timepieces at the best possible price.

Tariffs are having a very real impact on the watch industry. It’s impossible to make a watch in the US with American products; virtually everything is manufactured in Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, and, of course China. Purple Cow isn’t immune, and I will begin paying tariffs pretty much immediately, and, as a small business, I have to pass it along to my customers. But, this is my commitment to you. Even if the Supreme Court upholds tariffs in certain circumstances, the government might be ordered to refund some tariffs it collected. Treasury Secretary Bessent promised yesterday that if the Court orders refunds, they will be paid. My commitment to you is this. If I get a refund on tariffs, I WILL IMMEDIATELY REFUND THEM TO YOU. Every watch I sell that has a component upon which I pay a tariff will have a notation in my system how much was paid in tariff, so I can do an accurate calculation, and my dedication to my customers forbids that I get a windfall.
