The art of jewelry. This piece of wearable art supports our local arts council!

As art-lovers and creators, we believe in investing in our community and the arts. We donated the finished gold and opal necklace to be raffled off as part of a fundraising gala for The Arts Council of Westerville. More details at the end of this post.
Curious about our artistic process? It all starts with a vision. We pictured this ethereal Ethiopian Opal swinging in a frame of flowing gold; our take on the swirling movement of galaxies.
First, we worked out the design on paper. Then, we used the lost wax technique, starting with a soft wax that we carved by hand. When the piece was ready to be cast in gold, the wax was burned out inside of a mold, leaving a perfectly-shaped cavity for the molten gold to flow. We then spent more time hand-polishing the gold and setting the gemstone, to create this gorgeous finished pendant.
