I graduated with a degree in fine arts and photography, but wanted to learn something new where I could create pieces with my hands. I love that there are infinite ways to create a jewelry piece through process and material. Rock Salt Vintage began as an assemblage of found objects and vintage jewelry, but has evolved to represent handmade gemstone and metal jewelry.

So fun to turn leaves into wearable pieces 🍁🍂 took a bit more patience and brainwork to craft something more organic, but it’s nice to dive into that type of work when things get monotonous. Loved imagining more vibrant colors and life soon to come while creating these. Montana agate by paired with kyanite to welcome spring. As much as the stones remind me of sunsets and ocean, they also reflect the winter colors in the mountains- emerald ponds and orange beech leaves hanging on. Finding beauty in every season, but I’m ready for everything to spring to life again!

Thank you so much for supporting my art, especially during these challenging times. To be transparent, overall business has slowed down, so I appreciate each and every order more than ever. I know that it’s not easy for many of us financially right now, but I’m going to keep creating with material that I have. Unsure of what my future will look like, especially with pouring all of my money into my current living situation of being off grid. Part of me believes it was a good idea to choose to live like this as everything from rent to utilities, groceries to silver for creating my work are rising. But the other part of me feels like I am suffering in ways that are unwarranted and living in the city is more manageable, especially in winter. I try to look at rising silver cost as a benefit, that my work is only going to be worth more… and maybe even that it’s time to pivot to something else and return again. Only time will tell! When you think about it, our future isn’t ever really guaranteed. You just have to ride the wave and see where it takes you next. 🌊

There have always been elements of nature in my work, but since I moved to the forest, I constantly gather inspiration from the natural world that surrounds me. The texture of a leaf, the rising sun, the coyotes howling in the pitch black of night. I love creating work that highlights the energy and power in every living thing. Cheers to seeing the beauty that surrounds us.
