Twenty-two years ago today, on ✨August 4✨, two friends boarded an Fly Ethiopian flight, leaving Ethiopia for a new life in the United States. Yes, That’s us!

We had no idea that one flight would shape not only our personal journeys, but also the path that would eventually lead us to create Yenaé.

Today, we pause to celebrate this full-circle moment. The same airline that carried us toward an unknown future has become one of Yenaé’s valued partners.

It’s surreal to think that we’re the same two young women who sat side by side on that flight are now building and scaling a brand from across continents. The full circle moment is getting to partner with a name that has always held such a special place in our story.

Some journeys begin with a single flight. Ours began with a 26 years of friendship, a dream, and a business we’re still honored to build together.

Featuring the Ngao. 🖤 Inspired by the Maasai Shield, the ‘Elongo’, is an important artifact with not only practical use but also fine arts features. The Maasai are known for being superior warriors and their bravery. A Maasai warrior shield was not only used for hunting and warfare but also believed to have protection of a symbolic nature. Our Ngao piece is designed as a constant reminder that you are Brave!

Excited to share that Yenaé is now part of the Walters Art Museum. ✨

It’s always an honor to receive messages of admiration for our work and brand, but it’s an even greater privilege to have our jewelry collection selected to be carried in a museum shop.

This partnership with comes at a meaningful moment, launching alongside the upcoming exhibition Jewelry of the Afrofuture by Douriean Fletcher.

is a self-taught artist whose work spans costume, film, and independent design, with pieces featured in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. Her visionary storytelling through jewelry is truly an inspirational for us.

If you’re in the Washington, DC - Baltimore area, the exhibition will run from April 18 to August 9.
