The Newport Bridge feels like an old friend, the kind that brings back childhood memories of day trips to Newport without saying a word. This composition, from this particular spot, may be my favorite—because it’s the angle of the bridge I remember most. It was the view that told me we were close, that adventure was just ahead.
Even now, years later, this sight still does the same thing. It stirs that familiar sense of anticipation, that gentle pull toward what’s waiting on the other side.
I first visited this spot in full daylight, knowing I wasn't coming back with a keeper, that this trip was about exploration. I had to wait—weeks, months—before returning, until the night lined itself up just right. Under a full moon, the scene finally became the photograph I had been carrying with me all along.
