Hi, Friends!
We recently replaced hangers and wires on several paintings, done by a beloved grandpa, after one of them fell off the wall. The owner brought the rest in, and we found that another wire had already begun to break.
It's good to check the supports on the back. Metal screw eyes often pull out, (which is why we don't use them), and braided wire can break. There are better attachments and wire available now, and we can either replace them, or sell you the parts. We also have other hanging methods, for large, heavy frames.
Folks also like replacing glass. Most old art has regular glass, which filters 43% of UV light. Conservation glass filters 99%, so replacing that really helps to protect art. If we open the piece, we also check to see if any art hinges have come loose, and replace any cardboard backings that can cause acid burns on art.
We also make home trips, for folks with limited mobility. :)
