Águila Mexicana

Being from both Mexico and the United States, the eagle has always felt like a powerful and familiar symbol to me. For this piece, I wanted to create a bird that reflects that connection while drawing inspiration from the stylized eagles found in Aztec glyphs.

This double pin-back brooch is 100% hand fabricated from melted and reused sterling silver scrap and set with a 10 × 14 mm CZ in a hand-fabricated basket setting.

Created for my Advanced Fabrication class at SCAD.

Completely hand-fabricated. Made entirely from copper sheet using anticlastic, synclastic, and spiculum techniques. Fully functional mug.

I grew up seeing these jarritos in clay sold in huge stacks at flea markets, all handmade. I was inspired by the craftsmanship from my homeland in Mexico, where artisans truly thrive. There’s also a saying in Mexico: “eres delicado como un jarrito de Tonalá”, because they break easily. My mom used to say this to me all the time… and honestly, she still does.

Día de los Muertos–inspired cocktail ring and necklace constructed in Rhino and rendered in Keyshot.

Learning Rhino this quarter felt like decoding a new language — complex, frustrating, but ultimately rewarding. Through daily practice, I finally reached a place of pride in my work.

I drew inspiration from memories of celebrating Day of the Dead with my grandparents — marigolds, sugar skulls, pan de mu**to, and all the warmth that filled those days. Recreating these motifs allowed me to reconnect with those moments in a new way — honoring both the holiday and my heritage, and celebrating the souls that shaped me.
