"If you were a consumer in the West — in the U.S., for example — you would think you're doing the right thing by segregating your trash and putting recyclables in the right bin. But actually, you never realize your so-called recyclables are being exported to places where there are loose controls and even less capacity to handle such materials."

We haven't made it this far yet in living green but why not carry our own utensils? Anyone have any favorites?

We throw away billions of utensils every year, and many of them end up in the environment. The BYO cutlery movement could make a dent.

We've been meaning to post an update but couldn't find the right words to say it over the last few months. We have moved from Virginia Beach to sunny Florida this past month. Our love for Virginia and their beaches will always remain but we're happy for new beaches to explore and clean up. Thank you to everyone who supported us during our Virginia adventure! While we're working on expanding and rebranding this coming year, we will still share ways to make your life greener. Check out this article about glass packaging! As consumers want packaging that is safe, sustainable, premium and transparent, manufacturers are increasingly going back to an old stalwart.

Anyone else's dream collection?!

Ok, you sea glass aficionados, go ahead & drool. Here’s more of Beach Buddy R’s incredible central coast CA. vessel sea glass collection. She got out beachcombing years ago when the ‘getting was good.’ Those mid-century central Californians sure did trash a lotta cars & use a lotta Noxema, Milk of Magnesia & Vics Vapo Rub...I guess all that ‘Beach Boys fun in the sun’ living took its toll...Hahaha!

PLEASE REMEMBER:
Plastic Easter grass (left) lasts forever in the environment and tiny, lost pieces find their way into bird nests where they can entangle and maim or kill the babies... even sometimes the adults. Please opt for the crinkled paper version (right). It eventually biodegrades and is much safer.
