Here’s some Virgo lore for you. Astraea is the virgin Greek goddess of justice, innocence, purity, and precision. She’s known as the “star maiden” who transformed into the constellation Virgo.

She stood in the marketplace each day and argued men into ruling fairly. She did so after every other god had decided they weren’t worth the trouble. When the men stopped listening she moved to the mountains and still came back every dusk to say it again. She warned them she would stop coming. She kept coming for an entire age.

You know her. She’s the one who says the thing in the meeting after the room has already moved on. Who reads the bill. Who files the complaint. Who gets called difficult for describing what is happening in front of her.

She got to leave. She took her seat in the sky and has not come back. The women doing her work now don’t have that option. They wake up and do it again.

Shout out to all of you who are fighting every day for the greater good.

Virgo season has arrived.

The season for gathering what the year has quietly been growing.

The season for putting the house back in order, the real one, the inside one.

The season for being as gentle with yourself as you are useful to everyone else.

Two dates to hold onto. A partial lunar eclipse in Pisces this Thursday just past midnight, which is Virgo’s opposite sign asking you to let something go. Then the Virgo new moon on September 10, which closes the eclipse portal that opened on August 12.
