Combining modern fabrication processes with traditional metalsmithing techniques, Maija’s designs have a geometric style that reinterprets the patterns of the built environment and celebrates color. Creating jewelry since 2009 and with a background in art museums and art administration, her designs mix metal and hand-pigmented resin to create every-day wearable, architecturally inspired jewelry.

On a walk through the forest the other day and took a different path which had a beautiful pacific madrone tree that has the incredible smooth bark following a peeling.

Had to do a quick photo shoot with these new earrings that I was wearing to test out (yes, I wear all the jewelry I make to make sure it’s comfortable).

Pacific Northwest is inspiring as always.

Teardrop enamel, all the way around.

Each color fired separately into the sterling silver — sky, claret, amber, cream. The band took four passes through the kiln to get here.
Part of the upcoming collection to be released later this summer.
