The trail where Ava and I walk most days is in a "Preserve" where nature takes its course. We have a lot of dead and dying trees exposed during the bare months of winter. When the undergrowth comes back, the decay isn't so evident. Here are some pictures of one stump that lost its top in a wind storm a few years back. It is so interesting how the insides are separated into chunks and they fall out continually, almost like an art installation!
