Handmade organic inspired jewelry with workshop studio in Duluth and show space studio in Minneapoli

Britta Lynn Design is hand-crafted jewelry created by artist and metalsmith Britta Lynn Kauppila. All designs are created by fire and hammer and are influenced by organic shapes and historical elements. Britta lives and works in Duluth, MN but continues to keep a show space studio in the Northrup King Building in NE Minneapolis and travels at least once a month for events and appointments.

Earth Day Sustainable Jewelry Give-away happens tomorrow!! I do this Earth Day Jewelry Hunt to help draw attention to sustainable jewelry practices. In this industry where all materials are derived from the earth it’s our responsibly to demand they are collected in ethical and sustainable ways. Like using recycled or fair-trade metals, fair trade gems, recycled gems and more green studio practices. I’m trying to get better each day and I hope you can join me. On Earth Day, tomorrow at 11am I will post a pic of one of my favorite outdoor spots in Duluth where I have hidden this handmade branch barrette made in recycled sterling silver and then the hunt will be on! The time has come, looking for someone to join my team! Although it scares me it’s time to give these two hands some help to better serve my clients. Seeking a part time studio assistant 10-15 hours a week. Looking for someone to assistant in all areas of running a small creative business: from photo shoots and jewelry making to post office runs, email, and studio cleaning. This is an excellent role for someone interested in the creative industry. Candidate must be organized, detail oriented, and demonstrate initiative and ownership of work product and space. Top priorities include email, keeping my schedule on track, building inventory, and studio organization. Candidates with metal experience are preferred but if no metal experience must have good abilities with creating things with hands and quick learner. If you’re the type of person who likes to buy jewelry for Valentine’s Day (or how about Happy Tuesday?) know you can find my work at beautiful galleries throughout MN. These ice blue sapphires earrings are available at in NE Mpls, there is also in St. Paul, in Edina, in Minneapolis, and here in Duluth. Each one of these galleries are so beautiful and unique carrying artist made goods from local, regional and national artists. Happy weekend friends!

Duluthians! Reminder I’ll have open studio tonight 4-7pm at the Armory Fire Arts Building, 1325 London Rd. Ryan of will be blowing till 6:30 and Warren of Forging Community will be blacksmithing till 7pm. I don’t have a large selection of fashion jewelry in stock but I do have my staple precious collection. So if you’ve ever wanted to see my work in person or see where it’s made stop by tonight! Happy Birthday Allison! Gorgeous rose-cut opal that is just full of magic and sorcery. It’s like a painting for your finger. Vibrant colors for this vibrant woman commissioned by her thoughtful husband. Can’t wait to see it on you! *side note for my fellow Minnesotans or Northern dwellers, although this video is with a snow backdrop, you should avoid extreme temperatures with this stone. With their water content they can break with subzero temps. Also, be very kind to opals. They are very special but are very soft. Wear with love!

Thank you all for your feedback! The consensus is most follow me on Facebook or Instagram, minority follow me on both. So I will share some photos of what I’ve been up to! It was a crazy busy fall and winter (each year I keep growing) and this was definitely my peak. I had the chance to work with so many amazing people and make such special pieces for big milestones in their life. Here’s some of what I’ve been up to.
