In The Wind

In The Wind The beach is my one of my favorite places. My parents bought me first machine at 14. Since then, creating things with fabric has always been a passion.

How I got here:

I have always loved to sew, before I got my first machine, I would draw an idea for an article of clothing and ask my mother for old sheets, cut my pattern and hand sew my idea. Creations have included Halloween costumes for the kids, home decor for the house, clothing and my absolute favorite making handbags and totes. Over the years, time has been limited as raising children, ru

nning a household and living life in general left very little time for a hobby. During a trip to the seacoast with good friends the day was spent window shopping the many stores along the waterfront of Portsmouth, my girlfriend had a specific shop that she wanted to go into. While in the store seeing how much she really would like two of the products being sold but not appreciating the price tag, and idea popped into my head. I spent a lot of time researching the product she liked and found that there were limited style variations of her interest as she wanted 2 items one for herself and one for her husband. Much research later, I found a design that I like, but of course I needed to modify it as it just wasn't 100% of what I was looking for in a design. After investing in the necessary supplies to create a special bag for her and her husband the work began, the end result not only did they get a gift it was part of the start of In the Wind. During a trip with family to one of the barrier Islands of Georgia, the second product line for In The Wind was created. While the weather was cool in December beachcombing for shells is a must! While searching for shells and shark teeth, I found the perfect shell to make a necklace for my cousin as a remembrance of our trip. More research and product development and voila I had made my first product. I still have a lot of work to do get this up and running. Thank you for checking out my page and my products. Inventory is limited at this time, but stay tuned as I will be uploading product as fast as I can make it!

Today’s tote, not my usual medium (if prefer to work with used sails) but I have a diaylis patient whose bag I gave her several years ago is wearing out (a pretty Vera Bradley). I found a quilt at a thrift shop so I could maintain my goal of repurposing discarded items.

I tested the waters of personalization with stamping. Due to HIPPA I have blocked out her initials.

I still have plenty of this quilt left to make a few more, so if this bag interests you and you would like one, feel free to PM me. Cost is $75.

The bag is roughly 20” by 20”, fully lined with microfiber, leather trim and straps. With approx 11x12 pockets on both sides.

Today’s tote made from a NeilPryde sail. Available for sale! PM for pricing, includes free shipping.
