One of my favorite places on Wisconsin point, a sort of happy place in my mind. I used to spend Summer days here with Lena. This is in my dream most every night. In the dream my shoe comes off and floats away down river and joins many others. All seem happy. Nice to know where one's soles end up. No word as to my soul, yet. I'm so thankful fror everyone here, and all your kind thoughts and wishes, as when Anna died so many were there
and I didn't feel alone.. I appreciate you all so much! this Febuar, 4th, I go for the eye/driving exam to see If I can still drive. That's going to tell the next chapter I guess. once again thankyou all. Beachcombing and rummage sale season just a few months away!

Well , A happy, New Year of sorts? Atthis moment my mind is as broken as this comb. last 27th November while driving home I had a stroke. I'm thamkful not to have accident able to pull over and call 911. I'm so sorry to miss the julmarknad at the Swedish Institute. also unable to return calls. For now and future moment ,no idea what is ahead. It'sbeen really difficult road since theCovi so much to learn over. Walking doing well, some sight loss, I miss the beach withZiba, and creating at bench. there is some lesson in everything perhaps. Thank's to everyone for your wishes and prayers! 2025

Geese gather. Wing feathers to preen and clean. Departure pending. No time for good byes. So it seems in my life with Summer, not enough time to see friends or take the time to enjoy, long days before they become short. Soon upon us will be the ASI Julmarknad. Dec. 6th 7th & 8th. Busy time for making things until then. I have been the fool for too long trusting people to send money it they did not have enough, or their check book with. Last year is the first year it must have slipped the minds of a few to send payment in 37 years. So a heads-up to bring money or your checkbook. Excited to see everyone in a few weeks!

Fill a flask of floatsome washed up by the sea. Thank you everyone for following my posts , the likes and comments too. While this should a platform just to promote my business, those of you who have known me, know that my business includes my mom, my dogs, home and perhaps too much of my personal life, I tend to talk too much about things I feel passonate about.
Something that has bothered me for a long time while out wandering the beach is the large amount of small plastic bits and pieces. A few years back one November I got out onto Interstate Island, in the Duluth Harbor a nesting ground for terns and gulls. Shocking it was to see it littered with small bits of plastic, brought there by the birds.
We talk about what kind of world we will leave our children. I would like to see children involved in a part of their own future, by planting a seed in a fun way, so as adults they will love what is theirs after we are gone. These are maple syurp flasks from the recycle shed, any pretty bottle will do, and when filled reward them with a trip to the candy store or some thing else. They can feel they have earned a treat with their own efforts. If any of this feels good you, please share this post. Brad and Ziba

Well, Some have asked where they can get a copy of the Northern Wilds, I know there is a stack in the Super One in Two Harbors, and there used to be some carried at Cedar Coffee Company in TH also. The person to interview me was Naomi Yaeger from Duluth Many thanks to her and the Northern Wilds for writing this article. Naomi was kind to send me this link. I think the reading and photos even better so in the link. https://northernwilds.com/brad-e-nelson-shaping-stones-and-stories/ For those who don't know about Northern Wilds it is a free little magazine published in Grand Marais. and covers stories from Thunder Bay on down to Duluth, also other stories around and about Lake Superior, If you don't live in the area and love the Lake and stories of local events, then order a subscription. Well worth it and live as if you lived on the Shore every month. I've also given subscriptions as gifts! That season well be here too, soon enough! Thank you everyone for checking in and following me, it sometimes feels like living in a vaccum here.

Well again, Summer ending before begun. Sandpipers piping their way South no time for good byes. Sunrise now at 6:00 am and cutting short at Sunset too. Lots to cram in, but we still get our walks in and working on that perfect relationship of give and take. I take the coffee and give Ziba the cup. Exciting news for me was an article about the mosaics I've been working on in the 'Northern Wilds Magazine'. This September Issue. Check it out.

An artist's dream come true! I've found this retreat available for the next few months to create and do my artwork, getting a jump on Christmas. The first floor has a fine studio and second floor a loft with a grand window to view the Northern Lights! I'll need to be out sometime in November when the Winter occupants return. Just now working on some bracelets, and ring designs.

"Diving Loon" Done! At last something finished to share. Under dives the loon to a world we can only iamgine and wonder at. Each pebble a color on a painter's brush. Though I should be very glad, it's a sad feeling to be done. Thankful I am that everything turned out better than hoped for, I will miss the daily Zen of working on it. As explained the image is shown in reverse, working in reverse and blind of how it will look when done is the magic for me. Thank you for your company viewing the process. It's a little risky business sharing and no idea if it turns out. Tack!

Some have asked me to explain the process of the mosaics I've been doing. What you have seen of the loon thus far, is actualy the back of what has been glued on to paper. When suface is covered, a frame is built around the edge, and some wire mesh added. It is then what you've been looking at and myself creating is covered with cement. A last chance to say good bye. When cement has hardened, the frame is removed and like a moth from the coccon transformed. The process of creating has it's own health benefits for mind and soul. For me the most exciting moment is seeing if all your labors have turned out. Potters know that moment when they open the kiln door. Check in tomorrow or soon after and see with me how it turns out.

Fireweed blooms and soon Summer is done, as too should, projects begun. The loon ready for mortor at last! Deadlines all around with the feel of panic to get done. I will be featured in the Northern Wilds September Magazine issue showing the pebble mosaics. These past few years have been difficult after Covid, with the passing of friends, pets, and pondering where and what I want to do next. Like doing laundry the thoughts come out like socks that don't match. I can't tell you the calm one gets from the Lake, pebbles and creating. I do know for sure , that firecrackers sound a lot like guns to crows. Enjoy these days of Summer!

Something happy to share! I was recently contacted by the Vesterheim Museum, down in Decorah, Iowa, that they would like a piece of my work for the museum collection. It's been a difficult time since Covid, and makes me feel happy that things turn for better. I'm excited to be back and creating again. Mom is doing very well since her scare last year, and I'll get a little more studio time in. This weekend they are talking of good nice weather, so the hope is to be ipen this Saturday, and Sunday, so if you're looking for a Mothers Day gift or for yourself, and the weather looks goo stop on by and say hello!
