In my early days , as a kid , we’d stop by and see my dad’s longtime friend , and owner of Verona Trading Post &Pawnshop, Mr Audie Morgan .
As time went on , at around 17 or 18, I got to work there after school part-time and it was there that i got a good hands on education in the pawnshop business in the mid to late 1980s, it was an incredible eye opening experience that you could not get in a class room, it was an introduction into dealing with the general public and the art of dealing on merchandise that came through the doors and to be ready for anything, I also learned the Gold business and learning that real gold had a certain feel that could not be duplicated.
Now 37 years later and I’m running my own pawnshop and lots of what I learned was from Audie Morgan and I appreciate now more than ever .
Sadly my longtime friend passed away and I had took a pic of us in his store in 1988, and then last year in my store .
Audie Morgan was a good man and a longtime friend of the family and early mentor in the pawnshop business, i will always appreciate you Audie !
