I am still in the running for ! I have until the end of the today to make it into the top 10 (!!!) and I still can’t even believe I made this far, I’m still shocked I got into the contest in the first place. Thank you to everyone who has already voted for me and especially thank you to everyone who has continued to vote 🙏🏻
A few notes about this process:

2. You can purchase extra votes, the money from those purchases does go to a charity which does many things, among them being bringing art and art related activities to children with terminal illnesses.
So while it does feel a little weird to encourage people to buy votes the money is going to good causes.

A very special project came my way this past winter. A fellow agave spirits enthusiast had the blessing of adopting twin baby boys after he and his wife had suffered unimaginable loss trying to have their own. He asked me to do a family portrait of the new twins and include the babies lost as stars so they would know their family history, but one of the babies is blind so here I was presented with the challenge: how do you make a painting for a blind child? The answer was already ingrained in my style, texture. I used multiple layers of heavy body paint to create distinct texture changes so this special little guy could feel out the story of his family. And I used a puff paint to write the title in braille on the back.

Projects like this are such a honor to create, and telling a unique family history is something I feel very called to do. I invite all to reach out if this is something you’re interested in commissioning from me, creating a custom family heirloom is something you will never regret.

Very VERY exciting news yall! I am up for The People’s Artist award created by the one and only Johnny Depp (!!!) winning something like this would obviously be life changing for me, being selected for the competition alone has been hugely gratifying. Putting your self and your work out there is really scary but apparently I’m in the mood for risk lately so here we go!

Just sitting here wondering if I will ever paint something this big again and pondering the sustainability of all of my crafts, which includes my very existence.

As artist I’m accustomed to creating that which I lack, I operate out of an abundance mindset. A wrangler I rode with last weekend told me that “abundance” is always what comes to mind whenever he’s around me, I emanate this without even thinking about it. He also kept insisting everything happens for a reason, he was trying to make me feel better because I got us a lil lost (the east side has never been my strong suit, and in my defense I was sleep deprived).

What is the reason for the shrinking of resources though? Like the greater one? I obviously know how this happens but why? Character development? Creativity? Are we just doing it for the plot at this point? I am out of excuses for this. We live in a country where we have so much, and this is how we’re living now. Let that sink in.
