100 % wool Bonnet scarf/hat. Civil war period approx.

I saw a picture from a mid-period catalog (Petersons?) But wasn't able to see the pattern, so I guessed at it by looking at the photo ;)

More for the working class that couldn't afford higher quality, thus pricier, bonnets. To embellish the bonnets, ribbon was often woven in.

Colors are a charcoal Grey for the Crown Shell edging and ties, white wool for open weave for the green ribbon, and a subtle mixed color of green, rust, and brown on the bonnet. The mixed colors are not completely true to the period (though they blended beautifully) but the high quality Brown Sheep Wool is.

Ties were sometimes ribbon, but in this case I chose to make long woolen under-chin ties.

Finally finished this BoBeep Lo**ta style Bonnet. It was fun. But what was hard was the slippery Satin. Just not sure I'd try this again. Good learning experience tho.

Doing a custom bonnet for a customer .....she wanted what's called a Lo**ta style bonnet. White satin, pink ruffles and blue ties.

Long story short, its been a looonnngg time since I worked with satin. The extra material I bought was good since I made mistakes. Edison said he found many ways that DIDN'T work on his lightbulb but he only needed one that did. I didnt make a hundred mistakes but I sure tried! Lol. And I finally found one simple one that helped me work with the slippery stuff

And while making the ribbon, I sewed it to the brim instead of tucking it under. It made the prettiest double ruffle. What a nice surprise!

Tried to make a hat that fit the pic in my head. Didnt quite get there, but it turned out fairly nice, I think. Need to put it up on Etsy later this week

REALLY hard to take a pic one hand. Going to get help and do another one.
This is a Victorian understeer, 100 % wool in such a rich, warm red. Still surprised at how NOT itchy it is. Goes above my elbow, but then I'm short, too.
