Idyllwild project 2, ”Angry Chicken” crushed stone inlay technique. Made with Brass, Dyed Howlite, Mother of Pearl, Apple Coral, Agate, and Dinosaur bone. The inspiration came from listening to Randy Kemp perform live during my stay at Idyllwild his song “Chicken Song (Tear the roof off the chicken house)”. I could not get the idea of an angry chicken out of my head. Give the song a listen, Randy makes his flute create chicken sounds. Look closely, the chicken face is designed into the cuff, angry eyes and beak pecking at my brain. There was a need to be resourceful as current silver prices are high but I had plenty of brass. My teacher was Richard Tsosie, whom is a master Navajo jeweler that works a lot with stones gifted me dinosaur bone to place into the cuff. A classmate had mentioned that chicken and dinosaurs are related so there’s that.
