It is finished. I really enjoyed painting this, it is my favorite painting so far. Even though this painting went to its forever home, I will always remember this one. God gave me the talent to work on this one. It is so neat to almost see a full circle moment and that he had a plan even years ago when I was that kid in art class growing up that loved art, but didn’t have the confidence that I would grow up to be an art teacher, and paint for His glory one day. He knew that back then. God knows and listens to the desires of our heart and has a plan. This painting took me about 17 hours total, but it was spread over about a month - whenever I would have time, which is not a lot being a mom who also works, but one thought that I had while painting this was how much I enjoy painting and I wonder if one day when I get to Heaven, if I will be able to spend some of my time painting, for His glory, I feel like I will 💕. The client that commissioned this painting, wanted to give her husband a gift for their anniversary, an anniversary that was for 20 years of trusting the Lord and being fisherman of men. The most beautiful piece of art I will ever make. My little one. This was taken that first year, while up in the middle of the night. I would always glance at our shadows or in the mirror as I held and rocked you back to sleep. The shadow started tiny and seemed to grow bigger faster and faster. I realized you wouldn’t be tiny forever, so I decided to capture it, to hold onto that moment when you were tiny and it was just us in the midnight or wee hours of the morning while the rest of the world seemed to be so quiet. They call it the trenches of motherhood, and boy is that fitting - running on little to no sleep… sometimes I would go to work running on literally one hour of rest, on average three hours of sleep. You don’t realize it in the moment how special of a time that is, because you’re in survival mode; it almost isn’t fair that you don’t get to fully grasp the teeny-tiny phase, you just push through run on empty and then run some more; but oh how I will forever look back on those days and smile 🥰. My baby. I would love to go back and be able to hold you as a little baby at this age right here, I can see you in your dinosaur pajamas and spikey hair that wouldn’t lay down now, with those big eyes, my baby. It is such an honor to see you growing up, my love.

I never got around to posting this one. It is one of a series that I have made. This was a bit of process art. Mixed-media on an 8x8 canvas.

This color palette is everything. Still one of my favorite paintings that I have ever painted, to this day. Analogous color scheme.

When the palette is just as beautiful as the painting.

Oh how I miss having 24 hour access to the old studio when I lived in Boone. Here I was working on a handmade paper sculpture of mountains that I then finished with painting and lighting inside. I actually don’t even think I kept this piece during my move. I have so much art from those days that is stored away.

Thank you all for following this journey with me! I have no clue how frequently I will be posting or “creating content” on here. I am viewing this as more of a digital portfolio, in a sense - to share my art with the general public. I currently do not have a main focus of what type of art I share on here, just all things creative that I feel like may be worth uploading. I am on a journey to find my niche in art, so I guess you guys are along for the ride too! I have done many things in art over the years…from painting, ceramics, metalsmithing, to making handmade paper from recycled blue jeans. There will most likely be a variety of art mediums shared, projects highlighted, and sketches scattered. Stick around, you may learn something, like something, or spark your own creativity!
