I survived Labor Day weekend solo. I survived summer. I did art shows galore and the store ran 7 days a week and I kept up with jewelry and am still creating. That feels like such a win.

While it’s a win, the crash out of going 100mph is real. Burning the candle at both ends has caught up to me and I’m under the weather today and just totally burned out. Adjusting to this new schedule with school starting and multiple practices after school for both kids has been a curve ball and affecting our hours we are open.
•
•
I’ll be open tomorrow and all through the weekend. Still a lot of busy left in the season but locals summer is upon us. These 2-3 weeks after Labor Day before it gets cold is a time to pause and feel guilt free, and for me adjust and recharge.

So please pardon the crushed goldfish crackers, the discarded Hive Coffee Co. hot chocolate cups, sidewalk chalk and dispersed books throughout the store. We’re doing our best, we’re open, here and fully stocked doing our best to get through the day.

An 8 hour shift is not ideal for a 4 &5 year old but this is working small business life. No trust fund, nanny or BMW here, just a hardworking family living the dream in Leelanau.

This weekend is Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end to “summer” we’re always super busy. I need one more day at home to make more jewelry for the weekend.

Navigating shop hours solo while still creating and the kids starting school has made for a challenging week. Lots of pivoting. So we will be closed TODAY, Wednesday September 2nd and open tomorrow regular hours.

I’ll be tucked away in my shed smithing all the things to fill up my store jewelry inventory. See you tomorrow!

Yesterday was my summer hella last day. Lauren is headed back to MSU for the year and I’m so sad.

This means I’m solo again, so our store hours have to tighten up. TODAY, WEDNESDAY WE WILL BE CLOSED. I’ll be back at the store tomorrow and through the weekend.

Moving forward I can’t announce my open/close days because I base them off my kids after school activities/practices. Normally school also starts after Labor Day weekend which is not the case this year so this next week will be a trip to the finish line to make it through the busy season.
•

So to summarize, not open today, and I’m at home with my eldest until school starts Monday. But don’t worry, school only starts Monday for one of them and Tuesday for the other one because that makes perfect sense. 🙃

I’ve become MIA on social media lately. Every single bit of my energy has gone into creating and parenting and I’ve had nothing else to give.

Fishtown was amazing and every summer I am absolutely humbled running two stores at the same time. It’s only for a week and I get my butt handed to me every summer keeping up with both.
•
•
I promised myself this summer I would squeeze in fun stuff and make sure to do fun things and make sure the kids had a great summer. We did a Upper Peninsula family vacation, camping trip, beach days, the girls got to go to Michigan Adventure and the waterpark.

It was jam packed and exhausting, all while working nearly 80 hour weeks.

We’re still in peak season with locals summer approaching and school starting next week. As bonkers as it’s been it’s flown by! We’re still open daily 10-6PM, come see us the store is fully stocked!

Suttons Bay is buzzing about sidewalk sales and I won’t be participating, here’s why:

We don’t have extra anything, or things that do not sell well or sit on a shelf in the back. So I’m pretty proud of that. We can barely keep our shelves stocked and we have no back room full of inventory, in fact our back room is a narrow hallway full of all my stores seasonal decor and displays, that’s it. So pretty simple when it boils down to it.
•

I’m excited to attend sidewalk sales and browse all my neighbors’ awesome sales and support our thriving village! So come on out, we’ll be open regular hours all week.
•

In other news, I’m preparing for my favorite week of summer ART SHANTY in Fishtown with my girl katie bramlage we’ll be popped up the 12th-17th with all our washed ashore goods. You can catch us eating cheese shop and sippin’ cider and hanging out. Save the date!

I added two new Silversmithing Workshop dates, one in September and one in October, check them out on my website under the workshops tab.

You’ll make a Pebble Stacker ring, which is the piece pictured here. You chose your own stone and I have all the supplies and tools you’ll need. I provide bottomless bubbly and charcuterie and a good time in my she shed studio. Truly a one of a mind experience when you learn to smith and leave with your piece handmade from start to finish!

Feeling a little more normal and back in the swing of things after a week and a half in the U.P.

Got thrown right back into it with Suttons Bay Art Festival. We were slammed and it was so great! I’m surveying the damage and how much I need to make after a week long vacation and busy weekend and man have I got to get to work.

In other news me and Katie Bramlage
week in Fishtowns Art Shanty is already next week!!! So excited and yet not at all ready but let’s do this! It’s always my favorite week of summer sippin cider and eating cheese shop in the docks!
•

Some highlights from my trip in da Yoop:

-Rock Hunting with my kids and their appreciation for it.

-A three year old stealing a giant petoskey stone (like this thing weighs at least 5 lbs) from our show table and nobody noticing and her mom returning it only after she discovered it in the stroller while loading her into the car.

-A kind man taking pity on me and showing me all the tips and tricks to find Lake Superior Agates.

-A monk telling me the lemon pound cake I was buying from him was not appropriate for the kids because it was filled with brandy. Then saying maybe that is good for kids 😂

-Lake Superior, always a stunner.

-These family memories and traditions we create every year with
