My name is Mary Redman. I was born in Maine and moved to New Mexico when I was in 6th grade, at which time I became attracted to the Native American culture, which has influenced my work ever since. I have always been interested in creating art. At one time I worked at fine embroidery using Japanese silk thread. I also did some woodworking; in fact, I created and built two of my earring displays.

About 25 years ago while working as an oncology nurse, I attended some basic beading classes given by a friend and fell in love with beads and beading. After a year of taking classes, I was making earrings and selling them at craft shows. I then began buying beading books and teaching myself more involved stitches. Throughout my nursing career I spent much of my spare time beading. I moved to West Virginia 10 years ago, when I retired, and juried into Poplar Forest, an organization related to the Central Appalachian Arts and Crafts Cooperative Inc. I continued to be a part of CACC for a number of years, and was part of many Craft shows, including FestivAll in Charleston for 2 years. My work is all hand made and one of a kind, using glass beads and some natural stones. I have many repeat customers, especially for my earrings. They are light weight and comfortable to wear. The ear wires are made of sterling, gold plate or niobium. I always request that my customers hang the earrings rather than storing them in a drawer, as they will last a long time and keep their shape beautifully. My beadwork is sold at Tamarac and now my distinctive jewelry pieces may be purchase via my page. Simply message me your interest or email me at [email protected]
