One of my first school memories was at Vera Kilpatrick Elementary in Texarkana. It was 1967. It was a hot August day, and my mom had sent me to school wearing culottes. There was this "older" girl at school that came running up to me demanding I go to the office as I was in trouble for breaking the school rules. As a brand new first grader, I was horrified!
I tearfully and fearfully went to the office for my discipline. Thankfully that year was the first year pants were allowed in school for the girls. I was not in trouble, but that older girl scarred me for life, as you see, 59 years later I still glory in the fact that I was not in trouble! What is one of your elementary school memories?
