Introducing the URWERK UR-150 Golden Scorpion.

Now available to pre-order, hit the link in our bio 🔗

The creative masterminds behind Urwerk, Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei, are not prisoners to watchmaking history. Since the inception of the brand in 1997, Urwerk has broken from the constraints in both classical watch shapes, designs, and complications. Now, Urwerk returns with its latest edition to the catalog, an all-new timepiece – the UR-150 Scorpion.

Here it wears 2N yellow gold across the case middle and the massive crown, set against a black PVD grade 5 titanium caseback. Limited to 25 pieces.

With a Hammerhead, Tarantula, Cobra in the catalog, Urwerk leverages the Scorpion for the design of its all-new wandering minute satellite complication. Doubling from the brand's usual 120 degree to a 240 degree arc, this is the most ambitious retrograde undertaken by Felix and Martin. Like a scorpion, the wandering minute and jumping hour mechanism move to an extreme arch and then snap lightning fast, in this case, back to XX:00.

All of this is powered by caliber UR-50.01, we observe further improvement to the brand's automatic winding system. Powered by dual turbines, both regulate the solid rotor's speed as well as a more robust movement against shock.

Martin Frei loves to juxtapose gentle curves with acute angles. Here, this timepiece features an arched profile with the case and sapphire crystal maintaining the same line originating from the curve of the bracelet. Another testament to the brand's growth, both in watchmaking and design, the UR-150 Scorpion is a killer timepiece.

De Bethune built its reputation on breaking from convention, and the DB25 Digitale continues that story. Following the brand's earlier DBD, this piece revisits the jumping-hour digital display and rebuilds it around a fully reimagined dial architecture. This timepiece trades hands and hour markers for a layered, three-tiered composition of finishes.

The dial is constructed from eighty-two individual elements. A random guilloché pattern, applied to blued titanium, surrounds a central barleycorn-finished zone, with heat-treatment gradients producing the graduated blue tones across the surface. At the center sits a spherical moon-phase display built from two polished hemispheres, one palladium and the other flame-blued steel. This complication is accurate to within one day every 1,112 years. Around it, hours advance digitally through a titanium jump-disc window while minutes are read from a rotating analogue ring.

Turning the piece over, the sapphire case-back exposes the third-generation Calibre DB2144V3. This is the first De Bethune movement to extend its guilloché motif to the case, placed on the deltoid bridge. Visible through the case-back are all of De Bethune's core innovations: a self-regulating twin barrel, a titanium-and-grey-gold balance wheel, the flat-terminal-curve balance spring, and a triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system.

The case is 42mm, machined from mirror-polished grade 5 titanium for a lightweight, wearable footprint, with De Bethune's signature openworked bullet lugs shaping the profile around the wrist. As always, a timepiece where mechanical ambition and dial artistry are built to work as one.

Fantastic Calibers and Where to Find Them: Chopard L.U.C’s Full Strike with Caliber 08.01-L

Now live, Per Esper: https://www.esperluxe.com/fantastic-calibers-and-where-to-find-them-chopard-l-u-c-full-strike-caliber-08-01-l/

We’ve walked through some of the most fantastic movements in modern watchmaking.

From URWERK’s ultra-innovative EMC to Cal. 106.0 in Moritz Grossmann’s HAMATIC to the often-overlooked Cal. DB2109V4 in the DB25 Starry Varius Aèrolite, these are movements that challenge conventions and push mechanical watchmaking forward.

Joining that company is Chopard L.U.C’s Caliber 08.01-L, the movement that debuted in the manufacture’s first minute repeater, the Full Strike.

Urwerk rethinks how we experience watch as a whole. One of the major themes in Urwerk’s catalogue is creating novel ways for collectors to interact with their timepieces.

The UR-105 Tantalum Hull features a robust slide that opens the hood. Revealing hyper modern mechanics in motion. The hood also appears in the UR-112 Aggregat and the UR-230 eagle.

Other examples of novel interactions is the ability to switch the movement from automatic to manual with the selector on the caseback.

We also have the pulling of the pin to start the service clock found on the caseback of the UR-110 or 220.

Microlight engraving is De Bethune’s modern interpretation of guilloché. The grooves are cut far tighter and shallower than traditional guilloché, shifting the focus away from recognizable patterns and toward the way light interacts with the surface.

On dials like the DB27 Titan Hawk, the effect is constantly changing, appearing matte from one angle and brilliantly reflective from another. The eye is drawn in by the unusual depth and movement of light.

And it’s not limited to dials. De Bethune also uses microlight engraving on movement components, as seen in the DB28 XS Starry Seas, a titan in modern independent watchmaking.

Housed in a platinum case measuring 27mm by 35.5mm and just 7.9mm thick, the Prima combines architectural clarity with refined elegance. The result is a highly legible and mechanically expressive interpretation of time that blends the precision of a regulator display with the character of a historic complication.

Powering the watch is the in-house manual-wind calibre NHS01, developed specifically for the Prima and finished to the exacting standards of the Geneva Seal. Here it's quite interesting to see the governing body of the Geneva Seal, TimeLab, approve the Prima's striping as a modern interpretation of the classical Côtes de Genève.

With its combination of historic inspiration and contemporary engineering, the Niton Prima represents a compelling debut for the reborn Geneva manufacture.

The Niton Prima marks the first chapter in the revival of one of Geneva's most intriguing historic watchmakers. This timepiece reinterprets Niton's distinctive jump-hour display, first registered by the manufacture in 1928, through a contemporary lens.

Its display is organized around a striking vertical composition: a square digital jumping hour aperture at 12 o'clock, a rotating minute disc at the center, and a sweeping seconds indication at 6 o'clock.

This is not a time-only watch though. Two subtle mechanical signatures elevate the Prima. The first is a striking jump-hour mechanism that sounds a delicate note at each hour change via a hand-soldered copper gong.

The second is a stop-to-zero setting system that enables precise synchronization when setting the time.

Introducing our newest authorized brand partner: Niton.

We champion independent watchmakers with clear vision, exceptional craftsmanship, and a unique perspective. That’s exactly what drew us to Niton and its co-founders, Yvan and Leo. From our first conversations, it was clear they were building something special: a deep respect for traditional watchmaking, approached through a fresh and contemporary lens.

The Prima is a watch that rewards a closer look. Its jump-hour display with applied numerals offers a distinctive interpretation of time while remaining elegant, intuitive, and highly wearable. Beneath the dial lies a calibre distinguished by the prestigious Geneva Seal, reflecting the highest standards of precision, craftsmanship, and finishing.

The inaugural subscription series sold out in full. Today marks the next chapter: two production models in rose gold and platinum, and the Prima’s introduction to collectors across North America.

Please join us in welcoming the entire Niton team to the EsperLuxe family.
