Some more relume work here. This dial had most of the lume missing. I aimed to mirror the period application keeping the relume very thin and almost 2 dimensional. This was done with my proprietary tier 2 pigments. Mirroring tritium but with no radioactive emission. First 2 photos before. Rest after relume.

It’s nice to have friends in the watch world. Big thanks to my Longines guru buddies and for helping me restore this 1945 Longines 5415 to original spec. Now with this original untouched dial installed the watch really comes alive. I love how the bitonal character comes through from the subdials at different angles.

This submariner dial had been relumed with what looked like gloss white paint! We of course had to correct this. First three photos are pre work. Last few are post relume. On this 16800 dial, the lume application is very thin (rather than the thick three dimensional 60’s style) so I did my best to replicate that approach.

What an honor and privilege it is to be able to restore such a beautiful dial in such a historically important double reference Milsub. Swipe for some before pics and process shots under the microscope as it came along. As to how the dial got this way before it came in. I have no clue. Over oiling of movement mixed with moisture ingress most likely. In any case I’m very glad I was able to clean it as well as I did for the owner.

Also to all my friends wanting Truedome D19s we will be restocking by late next week. Stay tuned!
