This morning I also ordered some molds from .official and I'm SO excited for when they arrive.

These babies will make an excellent addition to my collection of earrings 😍

Today's color choices for the marble/slag pour 😍

Unmolding this baby wasn't an easy task.

I was today years old when I discovered there are different cure hardness to different silicones and the one I got in a LARGE quantity is much harder than the last one I ordered. Lesson learned, I'll be looking for a larger quantity of the softer silicone when I need to remake this mold.

Anyway, enjoy the first of the full size Hen on a Nest Candy Dish replicas. I'll be making 6 for the Joplin Moth Market πŸ’œ

The full size Hen on a Nest mold is finally completed, after all day and 136oz of silicone 🀯

I mixed 20oz of resin to divide for the colors and had quite a bit leftover and poured a few other things in this "slag" color.

I accidentally overfilled the top part of the mold and made a huge mess putting the lid on (which is what the muddled colors are in the beginning of the second pour video; I didn't want to waste that much resin)

Anyway, for this I'm using the Let's Resin quick cure resin that is a crystal clear resin, that has a 4 hour demild time. Which is a good 20 hours FASTER than the brand I've been using for years. I believe it's time to fully switch brands.

If I'm still awake around midnight (central US time zone) then I'll pull it tonight and post the results. Otherwise it will be in the morning πŸ’›

I was recently asked on my page about if I was ever going to make these vintage replica molds for other creators to purchase, and the answer is an unequivocal NO.
And here's why:

The Viking glass owl fairy lamps, required a whole half GALLON of silicone to create. That was expensive and I genuinely don't see other creators wanting to pay as much as I'd need to cover the cost of the silicone, and my talent in mold making.

Today I'm working on molding my Indiana glass Hen on a Nest, identical to the one pictured (but that's not mine in the picture, just the same make/color)

So far, this mold has taken 116oz of silicone. Nearly 4 quarts. And I'll still need to make a lid for the top half of the mold to keep the inside concave like it should be. That's quite likely going to be at least another 10oz, if not 20oz of silicone.

I purchased nearly 3 gallons of liquid silicone for around $130 and it's already half gone.

So, the short version, is the cost of silicone is too high to warrant the cost to create molds for other creators to use, especially since I absolutely doubt that any of them would want to pay over $100 for a mold.

Beyond that, so far, I haven't found anyone else doing what I'm currently doing; and it's SO hard to have a genuinely original idea, and I'm just not willing to share that and have competition with other creators on my original ideas.

I hope everyone can understand my standing on this, but if not that's your prerogative πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Have you ever wondered why hand crafted dice from small makers cost so much more than mass produced dice?

This is why!

Each face of each die, gets a minimum of 20 circles on each of these 6 polishing papers, and for more rough pours they'll get a light sanding with wet/dry 1500 grit sandpaper first.

Depending on the finish when I'm done with this process, I'll sometimes toss them in my tumbler with polishing compound and ceramic beads to achieve a mirror shine. That typically takes 1-3 days.

And while this may not seem like much to the younger generations, I'm nearly 43 and my hands HATE this process! Which is why going forward, my dice will be raw until they're purchased.

When I finally find the time to add the well over 100 sets to the website, I'll have the option of raw or finished; but the raw sets will be shipped with a small finishing kit and instructions so you can try your hand at finishing yourself πŸ’›

But if you find yourself struggling with that, feel free to reach out and we'll work something out for you to send them back to be finished.

As always, I appreciate every single one of you lovely people who have been a part of my artistic journey, no matter how long you've been here πŸ’›

It's time for more Merry Mushroom switch plates πŸ₯°

These molds I personally created a few years ago using genuine vintage Merry Mushroom plate covers. These are the only 4 they came out with, so they're all I'll ever have.

I offer them both blank white to paint yourself, and painted by me for a few dollars more on my website.

But please allow me some production time of at least a week to get my inventory up πŸ’›

I'll be working on some slag glass inspired hens first, before single colors.

I'm pouring a few owl fairy lamps in this style too πŸ’›

I'm strongly considering making full size hens too, if there's any interest in the big ones
