Yesterday, my husband and I had the honor of being invited to the memorial service for Patriotic Kenny. If you aren't familiar with his story, follow his page, or Google him to watch videos on any of the major platforms. He is most known on Tik Tok, with almost 3.5 million followers. I give you permission to go down the rabbit hole of videos, because they are full of joy, gratitude, and kindness. How can I possibly put into words what an impact one man had on so many people?
I met Kenny 5 years ago, right after he had just met 'The Crew.' My dear friends, Mara and Bruce, owned a coffee shop where Kenny would visit regularly on his red scooter. She also had some other 'regulars' named Amanda and Jenny, and encouraged them to say 'hello' to Kenny if they saw him out on his scooter, as Mara knew they were neighbors on the same street.
The rest is history. Mara and I took over as event leads of the Lake Elmo 4th of July Parade that same year, and Kenny has been in the parade every single year since. I will share more of his story in the coming weeks, but watch for an announcement in a few days...
