Some commissions are extra special. ❤️

A couple of months ago, a husband contacted me with an idea for a surprise for his wife to wear to their daughter’s wedding. He wanted me to incorporate the diamond from her original engagement ring (as well as gold from the band) into a necklace created especially for her.

Together, and completely in secret, we planned the piece. I created the necklace with emerald kyanite, handcrafted sterling silver flowers with gold centers, and at the center, her diamond and a sweep of gold from her engagement ring. I also made coordinating earrings to complete the set.

This past weekend at the Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show, we finally got to surprise her.

I had the set displayed in my case with a little card that read Mother of the Bride and the wedding date. She spotted it and commented to her daughter how funny it was that the date was the same as her daughter’s wedding date. 😊

And then her husband told her why.

There were tears, a lot of surprise, and finally a try-on. She loved it. ❤️

It was such a privilege to create something that carries a piece of their history into another very special day for their family. These are the pieces and the moments that make what I do so meaningful.💗
