I have had a handful of people bring in “gold” to see if its “worth anything”. They were given “gold” bracelets and rings at Kwik Trip in Stanley in exchange for gasoline.
This can be viewed in different ways…
If you give someone a gift out of kindness, that’s entirely up to you.
If you make a transaction expecting an exchange of goods but those goods are not what you were sold, then the seller was dishonest and can be viewed as a con artist or scammer.
Be kind but be educated and careful also.
As the old saying goes, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is…
Officer Holty is flashing some divine Canadian gold swag that was left behind by a scammer extraordinaire at a local business this morning. The bad guy was looking for some fast, cold-hard cash and took off in such an expedited manner that he left the fruits of his lack of labor in his wake.
We will chalk this one up as a win and are thankful that fraud was avoided due to a little wisdom, knowledge, and some astute Spidey senses.
