Crown of Henry II is a medieval crown which came from the reliquary of the saint Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor (972–1024) at Bamberg Cathedral, though it is not thought to date from close to his lifetime.

One theory states that the crown was made for the reliquary in the 14th century but it may also be a crown of Frederick II that came into the possession of Bamberg Cathedral via Henry VII and Louis IV.

The history of the Female Face Pendant is deeply intertwined with the height of the Art Nouveau movement and a historic 50-year friendship between two men.

The Art Nouveau Revolution (1897–1898)During the late 1890s, René Lalique completely disrupted traditional French high jewelry. At the time, jewelry was mostly an ostentatious display of wealth dominated by heavy diamonds and rigid Victorian settings.Lalique rejected this, declaring that the artistic value of the design was more important than the market value of the gemstones. He shocked the industry by treating gold as a structural sculpture and mixing precious gems with "lowly," unconventional materials like carved ivory, glass, and horn. The Female Face Pendant was created in Paris at the exact peak of this experimental era (circa 1897–1898).
