A stone this special deserved a setting all its own.

For this Custom Sunday, we sourced this incredible 21.30ct amethyst for our client and created a 14K yellow gold setting around it, letting its rich purple color and impressive size take center stage.

Hummingbirds carry a lot of meaning depending on who you ask. Joy. Resilience. Good luck. The presence of someone you've lost.

Our favorite interpretation is endurance. The hummingbird is one of the smallest creatures on earth and one of the most tenacious. It travels thousands of miles. It never stops moving. It finds what it needs and keeps going.

The pendant is 14K yellow gold with a green tourmaline eye. Small enough to wear every day. The kind of piece that means something different to everyone who wears it.

That green though.

This is a green tourmaline, also known as verdelite. Its vivid green color comes entirely from iron in its crystal structure, not chromium like an emerald. Which is why so many people mix the two up. Even royalty. The tiara worn by Queen Silvia of Sweden was long believed to be set with emeralds. Modern gemological testing revealed they were green tourmalines all along.

Cushion cuts tend to face up larger than their carat weight suggests.
