Isai in Tamil means “music”.

A decadent khadi silk sari in shades of purple and sage with Kalamkari appliqués and embroidered floral border. The edge is trimmed with a Mexican scalloped eyelet lace.
The silk is pure and lightweight making this an incredibly easy drape and a must-have in your wardrobe!

Kalamkari is a beautiful art form of hand-painting on natural fabrics- cotton or silk. Kalamkari stands for qalam (pen) and kari (craftmanship), meaning drawing with a pen. First, the black outline is done and then filled with the first natural color and then boiled and flat dried. This process will be repeated for each of the many colors adding up to 17 steps in this labor of love. The Srikalahasti style of Kalamkari, is entirely hand painted and this is the style we use in Arya’s saris.

The kalamkari appliqués feature ladies dancing and playing music.

The embroidered floral border adds a pop of crimson to this otherwise jewel-toned sari.

The cotton eyelet trim used in this sari (aka hakoba lace) is handmade in Mexico.

An aquamarine Kancheevaram silk sari with Kalamkari patchwork and a skinny woven border.
The silk is lightweight and has a touch of structure to it giving a drape with slightly more volume.
